Welcome to our coverage of the 7th annual Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Southeastern Designer Showhouse and Gardens running from April 14 – May 8. We are thrilled to invite our readers along with us to visit this stunning home built and decorated by a mix of notable Southeastern designers and architects “tasked with infusing each corner of the home with their signature style.” Not only does this event showcase the work of some seriously talented designers, but it also serves as an important fundraiser benefiting Camp Twin Lakes – “a nonprofit organization that delivers fully adaptive, medically supportive and deeply impactful camp experiences to Georgia’s children and young adults.”
This beautiful home, designed by Linda MacArthur Architects and custom-built by an all female team including Kattia Easterly, Sabrina Kelkar, Kalpana Oommen from EverCraft LLC, succeeds wonderfully at its goal of evoking “the atmosphere of a vacation home in the city drawing inspiration from vacation properties in Massachusetts’ Cape Cod and Wyoming’s Jackson Hole.” Inside the home, work by Kit Castaldo Design and Bell Cabinetry delivers modern and yet timeless quality features. The space both inside and out , with gardens by Floralis Garden Design, was created to be approachable and livable, and of course, incredibly stylish.
Kristan Moore – Foyer
Upon entering the home, we are immediately immersed in the lovely work of Kristan Moore, a designer known for her use of clean lines and soothing palettes. In the foyer, a flattering soft blush hue fills the functional and yet beautiful space which feels simultaneously feminine, glamorous and welcoming.
Kit Castaldo – Dining Room and BarDramatic and elegant, the dining room and bar, created by designer Kit Castaldo is dark elegance at its finest. A monochromatic black look allows the curvaceous table, chairs and vases to shine, while florals in blues and purples provide a pop of color. Her style, often described as “layered, timeless and refined” is on full display in this sophisticated space.
Jason Mitchell – Office and Mud RoomThe office, designed by Jason Mitchell, offers a laid back and yet highly considered feel. Neutral tones and textured earthy browns are offset by graphic black and white accents. A record player and lucite bar cart add a decidedly mid-century element to this modern and beautifully curated space.
Cathy Rhodes – Kitchen and Breakfast RoomSpring has officially arrived in the kitchen and breakfast room designed by Cathy Rhodes. The table absolutely blooms with color in the form of woven placemats, blue dappled plates and enchanting turquoise glassware. Fresh yellow flowers are an eye-catching addition to this elegant table setting.
Joy Williams – Scullery Bar and PantryPowerhouse designer Joy Williams has created a gorgeous modern scullery bar and pantry featuring light wood cabinetry fitted with gold hardware adding a hint of glamour to the sleek space. Her choice of soft cornflower blue in the pantry and on the island ties the rooms together and creates a soothing appeal.
Jenna Gross – Pool Bath and Laundry RoomIt takes a special eye to combine patterns and colors the way that Jenna Gross of Color Drunk Designs has done with so much sophistication in the Pool Bath and Laundry room. As a designer who has previous experience in fashion, having once worked under Marc Jacobs, she has brought her keen ability to this space, pulling together a uniquely joyous mix of brightly colored patterns.
Lori Hojnowski + Alyssa DeBord – Event SpaceMother and daughter team Lori Hojnowski and Alyssa DeBord of Shannon Paige Events have created an outdoor event space in the lush green gardens surrounding the showhouse that begs to be enjoyed. Low tables with colorful pillows as seating boast a beautiful setting made up of natural woven placemats, colorful stemware and crisp white tulips. More colorful glassware can be found at the bar cart situated near fun loving fringed umbrellas.
Heather Riedel McKeown – PorchThe porch by Heather Riedel McKeown is the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living. Enjoy a bit of shade and stunning artwork complimented by seasonal greenery and cherry blossoms during the day or cozy up to the white tiled fireplace in the evening with the temperatures cool. The elegant seating offers a lovely place to relax and socialize while enjoying the spoils of the gardens.
