TLV Loves: Rich Jewel Tones for Fall

After a long hot Summer, when the first hints of chillier Fall weather start to fill the air we inevitably turn our attentions from our patios and gardens to our living rooms and dining rooms. In other words, its time to prep our homes for the chilly seasons quickly approaching. One of our favorite ways to up the cozy factor without sacrificing a sophisticated décor style is to add a little (or a lot) of deeply hued, rich, vibrant jewel tones. Even adding a few pieces in deep muted hues adds an element of Fall inspired richness.

Here we take a look at three ways to achieve the look of the season.

Look #1: A Room for All Seasons

If you want to incorporate the look of jewel tones for Fall but wish to preserve a bit of seasonal neutrality, this is the look for you. Layering some colorful pieces with a dose of neutrals and light colors makes this room feel festive in the Fall/Winter months and yet light and comfortable in the Spring and Summer.

Start with a colorful carpet as a base…

9 x 12 Overdyed Raspberry Rug , $2,853.00

Next, add a few neutral pieces for balance…

Custom Day Bed from Pimlico, $2,700.00 (We love how the clean lines of the day bed and soft color offset the rich vibrance of the vintage rug.)

Lillian August Elle Tray Cocktail Table, $2,100.00 (This elegant yet subtle shagreen and brass cocktail table is gorgeous in its own right but doesn’t compete for attention, blending seamlessly into nearly any décor style.)

Adding a bit of black creates a nice counter balance …

Pair of Cedric Hartman Reading Lamps, $3920.00

Finally another layer of rich color to complete the look…

Ralph Lauren Home Cape Lodge Sofa, $2225.00

Look #2: Deep Hues and Pattern Play

This looks benefits from bold choices and a dash of whimsy. One of the benefits of mixing and matching colors and patterns (beyond creating a space that stimulates the senses and is a joy to behold) is that it allows you to put together all kinds of different pieces that you love. Because the look is so unstructured, you don’t need to edit in the same way if you were going with a strict theme. Feel free to mix in that armoire that was handed down through the generations along with something new and trendy along side a vintage rug. It all works.  Keeping the colors (mostly) in the same color story – in this case, dark and moody – gives that bit of consistency that pulls the room together.
