Beautiful antique St. Nicholas old Russian icon with silver and egg tempura on wood panel. St. Nicholas is the beloved fourth-century Christian saint known for miracles attributed to him. The saint is depicted with a radiating cut-out gold halo in bishop’s vestments blessing with one hand and holding the Gospels in the other. Christ blesses the saint from the upper left corner and the Mother of God leans to protect him from the upper right corner. Painted naturalistically in brown tone colors with carved silver made to protect and showcase the subject.
