Mahogany Double Pedestal Dining Table by Francis H. Bacon (1927)

Rare and beautiful mahogany double-pedestal dining table in Colonial Revival style by Francis Henry Bacon (1856-1940), esteemed American architect and designer of furniture. Signed “FB 19Co 27.” Features delicate feather-like carved detail on the legs and tipped claw feet on casters. 72” x 48” dining table with four 12” leaves bringing the table to a large overall length of 120″. Two leaves feature the full apron, and two are simple panel extensions without apron. The leaves are stored in the accompanying “FB Co 1927” signed crate.
Francis H. Bacon furniture is in collections and on display at eminent institutions including the Met, the Smithsonian, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Among other collections, the designer was commissioned to furnish the New York William H. Vanderbilt House for the furniture maker Herter Brothers, one of America’s most notable tastemakers of the late 19th century.
