A pedestal table is the true definition of a timeless piece; a design that originated in the 1700s and hasn’t gone out of style since. In our opinion, though, just because a piece is classic doesn’t mean it has to be relegated to a traditional style room. One of the most appealing aspects of a pedestal table–and perhaps why the design is so enduring–is that it’s a total style chameleon, fitting in easily with a range of looks.
We recently acquired a gorgeous Dovecote pedestal table for our inventory at The Local Vault, and it immediately got us thinking about all the ways we could style it. So, we decided to make it our latest subject for one piece, three ways. Here are a few of the gorgeous ways we imagine it.
With feminine, French country accents: a rustic wall clock, tufted Bergere-style chairs, a dramatic Chantilly chandelier and vintage tableware.

At the same time, the table can easily go in the opposite direction, taking on a more masculine, industrial look with a cage-style chandelier, pewter dinnerware, and weathered wall art.

A pedestal table also feels like a natural fit for polished, traditional design. A pair of upholstered velvet Parson’s chairs, tailored candlesticks, and a crystal globe chandelier are beautiful accompaniments.

…And these are just three of the ways we imagine it! The options for styling a pedestal table are truly limitless. There’s no need to confine it to the dining room, either. A pedestal table looks great in a large entry foyer, in an office in place of a desk or conference table, and as a table in a breakfast nook, too.
