Do you love interior design? Does a day spent browsing beautiful art sound like heaven? Do you feel strongly that there’s nothing better than spring in New York? Then you’ll want to mark your calendars and get out those Metro North passes, because the next few weeks are overflowing with world-renowned art and design events around New York City. Here are a few that are not to be missed.

NYCxDESIGN, May 3-17, 2016. NYCxDESIGN is more of a city-wide celebration than an actual event, with more than 500 architecture, graphics, fashion, and art events scheduled throughout all five boroughs of the city during the first two weeks in May. This year marks the fourth anniversary of the initiative, which is run by organizations like NYC & Company and the Mayor’s Office. For a complete list of all events taking place, visit the NYCxDESIGN website.

The 44th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House, May 12-June 9, 2016. If you’re searching for a little inspiration for your own home, or you’ve ever wanted to literally step into the pages of a shelter magazine, then this event is for you. The annual decorator show house, which supports the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, attracts some of the country’s top designers, who outfit its rooms to the nines each year. Participating designers this year include Gil Walsh, Victoria Hagan, and Benjamin Vandiver. For the VIP experience, sneak into the show house a night early with tickets to the opening cocktail reception on May 11.

Frieze New York Art Fair, May 5-8, 2016. The annual contemporary art fair on Randall’s Island is one of the city’s most famous events period, attracting more than 1,000 artists and 200 galleries from around the world. In addition to a chance to browse thousands of gorgeous works in one place, Frieze also offers a ton of programming for art lovers, including guided tours, panels and lectures, and special commissions on display. Expected highlights this year include a commissioned, curated collection by Cecilia Alemani of High Line Art.

WantedDesign, May 13-16, 2016. WantedDesign is one of the banner events during NYCxDESIGN and is quickly becoming one of the world’s foremost arenas for cutting-edge contemporary design. The show, which began in its Manhattan location in the Terminal Stores in 2011 and expanded to a second location at Industry City in Brooklyn last year, offers both the trade and the public a chance to see the work of local, national and international furniture manufacturers, along with a conversation series, an awards program, and a shop.

International Contemporary Furniture Fair, May 14-17 (public day May 17). ICFF is a huge furniture show that takes over the Javits Center each year with the newest, best, and most beautiful designs from more than 700 luxury furniture manufacturers around the world. It’s truly the place to go to discover what the major furniture and decor trends will be for the next few years. While the first few days of the show are open to the trade only, the public is welcome to attend both the show and the lecture series, which includes talks on interior architecture as well as designing with artisanal brands, on May 17.

We’ll see you there!
