The French Country, shabby-chic look may be all the rage in interior design right now, but we’ve got our eye on another countryside that’s every bit as gorgeous, and a lot less ubiquitous: The Swedish Country style. The look is characterized by clean lines, pastel colors, and classic country accents … think plaid, floral, and ticking-striped textiles, ruffled chair cushions, and weathered finishes.

We recently spotted a stunning example of the design style in the pages of House Beautiful–the fantastic summer house of designer Marshall Watson–that looked like it could have been entirely created with pieces from The Local Vault. So of course we had to recreate the look ourselves! Take a quick house tour and get inspired to infuse your space with some Swedish country style, courtesy of pieces from TLV, below.

First stop, the dining area, and one of the best ways we’ve ever seen to display dishware. Another of our favorite elements of the space? The way the gleaming brass chandelier balances out the rough-hewen furniture pieces.

Get the Look: 

A coat of white paint will make these chairs perfect for a Swedish Country dining room.

Pale blue napkins incorporate must-have pastel hues.

Add this chandelier and a farmhouse-style table to complete the look.

 

Despite the formal, structured furniture forms … how inviting does this room look? We chalk it up to the soothing pastel shades and mixed-and-matched wood tones and textiles.

And here we have our favorite space in the house: the master bedroom. Can you just imagine how gorgeous it would be at night with the fireplace lit up?
